Good morning, fellow Llamateers.
Great times were had at Helms Deep last night … especially for Mr. Walker.
We played the Mighty Monsters rules – Assassin Style. Will started out quickly with some Affinity for Islands shenanigans, putting Alex on the early defense. Alex abated the threat by subsequently gaining control of Will’s biggest flyer. Ryan kept tossing down 5/5 life-linkers. That was bad … until Austin finally drew past his lands and started dropping Eldrazi monsters on the table. Meanwhile, Walker was just mana-deprived. Of course that evoked the old courtesy rule of giving him time to rally … terribly bad choice.
When the time was ripe (top-deck), Will played a Ray of Command and killed Austin with his own Eldrazi. Then Will died. Then Alex died. Then Ryan died. Then Walker did the victory dance.
Fun times.
We’ll play again in two weeks at Keysar Kastle. We opted to play one of our Jumpstart sets. Probably 1v1.
Update on the clone sets for Levi and Austin: Most of the first set has arrived. Hopefully both sets will be in hand by our next gathering. I’ve collected the $35 contribution from a couple of you. The rest of you can maybe bring the $ to the next set.
On a related note, see the next post about the special donation from JT.
See y’all soon.
I wanted to share this with the Llama group (and friends).
JT Thomas – long time dear friend of our founder, the late, great Kurt Hanson – reached out to me recently and wanted to make a significant contribution to the group.
He asked that this be applied to the puchase of one of the new clone sets in honor of Kurt. On behalf of the group, I wanted to thank JT for not only the gift, but also the gesture of honoring Kurt.
For those of you who never got the chance to meet Kurt, please know he was one of the brightest stars on the planet and he is sorely missed by his friends and family.
Thank you, JT.
Come see us soon.
