Hello, Llamaland!
Great times at the Hollingsworth Hacienda last night. Seven valiant varmints showed up for the March of the Machines draft. (Thanks to Brandon for hosting and Ryan for providing the box.)
Luck and timing always play a role … last night perhaps more than most. Will got the first round bye. Into the second round, Will won the roll of the dice, allowing him to go first against Austin B. Will split the set with Ryan, who was on a deadline and couldn’t stay for the tie-breaker (which he had a great chance of winning). Hence, the night ended with two winners: Ryan and Will.
On the other end of the spectrum, Brandon and Walker did epic battle to stay Kosher. When the dust settled, Brandon ended up with the Pig.
Walker, Alex, Austin B, and Levi are still out there, somewhere, wandering around in Middle Earth.
Fun stuff. Let’s do it again in two weeks (September 7th). Since Brandon and Titus had swapped hosting, it is now Ryan’s turn.
Here are the rules:
“Mighty Monsters”
(From your personal card collection)
Number of Cards: 60
Deck Construction Rules: No Rares, No Mythic Rares (if a card has ever been a Rare or Mythic it is banned). Minimum casting cost is 4 converted mana.
Play Rules: Before shuffling, each player pulls two basic lands from his/her deck and sets them aside. These two lands will begin the game on the battlefield. Beginning life totals are 30.
Play format: Assassin
Hmmm. Interesting.
By the way, all Llama members need to be budgeting about 30 to 40 dollars each for the finalization of two additional clone sets. We’re trying to pull as many as possible from our reserve but the value of the sets now sit at about $300 each and we’re likely to only hit about half than for free.
Reminder: all the clone sets are property of the Llama group (explaining why we are sharing the cost).
I’ll send out updates and reminders but the ETA on the new sets is mid-September.
