Hey, gang. Great times at Helms Deep last night. In case you missed it, we played the Quasi-Commando rule set. It was interesting to see what strategy each player employed. No two players had the same approach. When the dust settled, Alex’s enchantment/draw deck pulled out the win. He pulled Presence of Gond and attacked each opponent with a googillion elf warriors. We all died. Pigs to Austin B., Walker C., and Will H.
Congrats, Mr. “the Great”.
A commander game naturally ensued. Also, closely contested. Zombie tokens for the win. (If memory serves … I only remember that Austin made me draw to my death via Villis. Didn’t see that one coming.)
Subsequent to that, Alex trotted out a two-creature deck and tricked out Emrakul. We all died … again.
Hmm, I’m seeing a pattern.
Always great fun.
Let’s do it again in two weeks at Tuckertown.
Let’s dip into the clone set for the next match, using the following rules by Alex:
Brawlssassin (From the Clone Set)
Number of Cards: 60
Deck Construction Rules: One Commander (Any Creature Doesn’t Have to Be Legendary) and 59 other cards. Singleton (excluding basic land cards). Every card in your deck must only use mana symbols that also appear on your commander. (Colorless cards are allowed in any deck.)
Card Rules: Commanders can be cast for their mana cost, plus 2 mana more for each time they’ve been put back in the command zone.
Play Rules: Assassin Format
Sounds like fun. I’ll aske several of the group to build an extra decks for those who do not yet have Clone sets. (We’re working on that, by the way. The plan is to get a couple more sets together in the next month or two.)
See ya then.
