Hello, gang. Great times at the Cothran Cathedral last evening. We played the Horde rules. There were some of the normal ebbs and flows but then Zach’s Elf deck hit the bonus pool with Ezuri’s Predation. He made an army of big tokens. They fought and killed most of the board. After that fell swoop, Zach dropped the hammer, first on Will, then on Alex. Walker put up a little extra fight before he, too, succumbed to the Elf Horde.
Congrats to Zach for his first win (seconds to Alex for his design of Zach’s deck). Condolences to Will for getting the pig in spite of his nifty little Spurt of Spirits to start the game.
After the Tourney, we devolved into Commander. Mana shortage impacted most of the room to varying degrees. Walker was not affected, however and he put those resources to fine usage, rolling for a Saheeli win. Good job.
Speaking of Walker, special thanks to he and Brittany for hosting their first Llama tourney.
Next up, we’ll invade Keysar Kastle (assuming Ryan gets at least a table and a few chairs set up).
We will tap into our personal card collections yet again and build decks to the following specifications:
“Quasi-Commando”
Number of Cards: 100 (from personal collection)
Deck Construction Rules: Decks must confirm to Commander rules except as follows: All cards must be uncommon or rare (according to the Set Icon printed on the card). The dedicated Commander must be a creature but DOES NOT have to be legendary. The Commander shares any abilities with each of his controller’s other creatures on the battlefield.
Additional Rules: Infect and Toxic are allowed but 21 poison counters are needed to be lethal (instead of the usual 10). Mill cards are allowed but drawing to an empty library is NOT lethal.
Play Rules: Normal Commander play rules. Multiplayer, free for all.
Happy Building, Buds.
