Great times at Pemberton Palace last night. Thanks to Titus and Samantha for some awesome Cajun cuisine.
We played Will’s Brothers War Jumpstart, round robin 1v1 style. Most of the crowd had some ups and downs but not so for King Keysar – Ryan dominated right out of the gate and never looked back. With the win, he vaults into sole possession of second place in the season standings (his 3 wins still trails Alex’s 6). Will and Titus remain tied … only now for third place. On the less lucky end of the event, Walker collected Pygmie, the Pig while Will, Titus, Alex, and Evie are out wandering Middle Earth. Good stuff.
After the tourney, we devolved into a weird three-way, two-headed-giant commander game. Some of us played casual decks (we were quickly eliminated), some played massive token decks with double strike (they held out much longer), but some played soul destruction decks (Ryan) … or maybe it was just land destruction and creature destruction. Those guys (team Ryan and Walker) came out on top.
Super fun times.
We’re up again in two weeks, this time at Tucker Town. (As a look ahead, we may be playing at Ryan’s new Kastle in four weeks)! Woo hoo!
As far as rules for the next set, let’s do some more creative building from our personal collections, similar to Silver Bullets … just different.
Horde of the Rings
Number of Cards: 60 (including lands)
Deck Construction Rules: Choose a creature type and all creature cards in the deck must be of the chosen type (multi-types are allowed (Elf Warriors count as either Elves or Warriors). Other than basic lands, no more than 1 card of each name (singleton deck).
Play Rules: Assassin
No pressure; we’ve got two weeks to craft a masterpiece!
See ya soon.
